About
I use drawing as the basis for my practice.
I enjoy the primacy and immediacy of the process of drawing and the connection with ages past. I value the honesty of drawing and the virtues connected with such an immediate process. I am interested with the flow over centuries, of a process, that is inherently fragile and momentary and allows a lightness of touch, and a paradoxical sense of loss.
Charcoal is my preferred choice of drawing medium. This is something to do with the range of marks that can be produced and of the versatility of this medium to be subjected to a range of processes. I am intrigued with the symbiotic relationship between myself and the material, an interaction realising that the prefigured idea is tempered and placed at the interface of the drawing process, between touch and the possibilities of materials.
